I'm a UK size 8 and bought a size S. They're quite snug but not too tight, sizing up would have worked for me too.
I am 165cm tall and bought the 30" inseam, however they are ALMOST too short, but they just about work for me so I got lucky. I definitely wouldn't suggest getting 30" if you're my height or any taller.
I'd describe them as running small, and would recommend NOT sizing down, and maybe even sizing up. I'll be buying my next pair in 32" and maybeee an M. The quality is also surprisingly great, thick material and functional pockets

These are the most comfortable shorts I own. The fit is flattering, the spandex short underneath is great for modesty. The waist hugs you comfortably, and the material is light weight, and breathable.
